White Like Me
Screening and Discussion
November 4, the Dominican Sisters hosted a showing and discussion of Tim Wise’s documentary White Like Me: Race, Racism & White Privilege in America. Wise, an anti-racist educator and activist, tries to raise awareness in the film of the significance of race and racism in the history of our country through the present. Wise shows in the film how damaging it is for everyone when white people are blind to racial inequality and the privileges they have. The discussion centered around how to have conversations about race, which we often avoid, to understand the different perspectives of people of color and to truly see one another. A few of attendees stayed for Mass in our chapel and to dinner to continue the discussion.
