On Thursday evening, June 28, the Dominican
Sisters of Houston and Dominican Family participated in an interfaith prayer service
at the site of a proposed child detention center at 419 Emancipation in
Houston. Representatives of the Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, and Christian faith
traditions and other persons of faith came together and prayed for children and
parents separated at the border to be swiftly reunited and for the end to
family detention. Those present prayed for our nation to treat immigrants with
human dignity and to see them as our brothers and sisters. Faith representative
spoke of God’s call for compassion and mercy towards the stranger in need.

Maryam Islamic Center; Daniel Strain, Executive Director of the Spiritual
Naturalist Society; Rev. Jonathan Page, First Congregational Church, and David
Leslie, Executive Director of Rothko Chapel.
