- Catholic Nuns Today - Whether you call us Nuns or Sisters, we are Roman Catholic women religious who have answered God's call to spend the rest of our lives serving Jesus Christ by caring for those in need, especially the poor and abandoned. Many years ago we were easy to recognize dressed in our long habits. You may have seen us in Catholic schools or hospitals. Today we continue to carry out our mission of service to others with the same dedication, commitment and tenacity of the Sisters who went before us. Our love of God still moves us to bring our gifts as teachers, doctors, administrators, social advocates, lawyers, nurses, counselors, and many other ministries to people. This website is sponsored by Congregations of Roman Catholic women religious based in Texas to show the active apostolic lives of Sisters, often referred to as Nuns, in today's world.
