Sister’s body will be received at St. Dominic Villa on Thursday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m. The Wake is Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5. All services are at St. Dominic Villa. Interment will take place at Forest Park on Lawndale at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, TX 77021.

Sister Dorothy Cruze, O.P.
Sister Dorothy Cruze entered eternal life on August 31, 2014. She was born in Nacogdoches on November 10, 1929, to the late Dan and Helen Martinez Cruze. She is predeceased by her brothers George, Herman, Frank, and Dan, Jr., and by her sisters Margaret Kimbrough and Alice Heins. She is survived by her brother James and wife Doris of Littleton, CO, and by nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
After graduation from Nacogdoches High School, Sister joined the Dominican Sisters of Houston on September 8, 1947. She earned a B.A. from Dominican College, a Masters in Education from the University of Houston, and a Masters in Theological Studies from Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. She looked forward to continuing her studies each summer by participating in workshops. After teaching 49 years in Houston, Beaumont, Nederland, Port Arthur, Rosenberg, Nacogdoches, Pasadena, Amarillo, Brownsville, and San Antonio, Sister worked in a nursing home for 2 years before retiring at St. Dominic Villa in Houston in 2004. She volunteered in the Guatemala Mission Office and at the Villa and she also enjoyed browsing the internet.
Talented in art, needlework, and culinary skills, she generously shared the work of her hands in the arts and crafts sales and with friends. She always appreciated beautiful things.
