Cook and Kitchen/Dining Room Staff Person
The Dominican Sisters of Houston seek an experienced cook with a background in geriatric environments. We are looking for an addition to our dietary staff at St. Dominic Villa, the home to the retired sisters of our community.
Job Summary:
Prepares, seasons, and cooks dishes under the direction of the dietary manager.
The ideal candidate will be able to adhere to all current safety and sanitary dietary standards; prepare meals according to recipes provided; be available to work breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts on a rotating 7-day basis.
General duties listed below:
• Inspects and clean food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food handling practices.
• Ensures food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, etc.
• Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality and rotating stock.
• Washes, peels, cuts, seasons, and cooks food according to recipes.
• Sets up, monitors, removes food from steam table.
• Assists sisters in the dining room as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Possess an ANSI food handler training certificate
Salary and Benefits:
